Plot summary
A sword stolen from an African tribe goes up for auction and is won by May Bannon, the daughter of Count Bannon. The thief is Jackie, known as Asian Hawk, a former musician who now hunts treasure. Alan, his former bandmate, comes to him for help: a cult has kidnapped Alan's girlfriend Lorelei, and the cult already holds two pieces of the Armour of God. It wants the three pieces still missing, including Jackie's sword. Count Bannon owns those three, so Jackie and Alan borrow them, promising to complete the armour for him, on the condition that May comes along. The three travel to Yugoslavia to find the cult's monastery.

Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Armour of God (1986)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Jackie Chan insisted on re-shooting a jump from a wall onto a tree branch for the film's opening sequence; the branch broke on the second take and he fell 5 metres, cracking his skull and forcing a piece of bone into his brain. He was flown to hospital and was in surgery eight hours later.
- The fall left Jackie Chan with a permanent hole in his head filled with a plastic plug and slight hearing loss in his right ear. Actor Eric Tsang filled in as director after the accident, and footage of it is shown during the film's ending credits.
- For the hot-air balloon finale, Chan actually skydived out of a plane and landed on top of the balloon rather than jumping off a cliff; the cliff jump was shot with the crew rigging him to a wire, as he had no BASE jumping experience.
- Cynthia Rothrock auditioned for the Amazon Fighter but turned the role down after Jackie Chan's injury halted production, then was reassigned to lead Yuen Biao's 1986 film Righting Wrongs; Marcia Chisholm replaced her.
- Some Asian versions of the film ran Alan Tam's song "Lorelei" over the end credits, others Jackie Chan's "Flight of the Dragon (aka High upon High)"; both recorded the songs in Cantonese and English, and the English versions were used in export dubs.
