Plot summary
On April 1, 2007, Desiree Cartier welcomes guests to her mansion in honor of her friend Torrance Caldwell, an actress. Among them are her brother Blaine, who controls their shared inheritance, Senate candidate Peter Welling with his fiancee Barbie Reynolds, videographer Ryan, and society reporter Charles Lansford. Milan Hastings, Desiree's social rival and Ryan's crush, also arrives. Desiree suggests a prank: Blaine will ply Milan with champagne and take her upstairs while the others film. A seizure sends Milan over the balcony, killing her. A court finds the group innocent and calls the death a fatal prank, but Blaine loses the family fortune to Desiree. A year later, anonymous invitations bring the six to Milan's grave, where a letter says one of them killed her and must confess by midnight.
