Plot summary

Vinay, a doctor who explains everything through medical science, and his wife Madhura, an archaeologist, settle in a remote village for a year at his late grandfather's wish. Kamat arranges their stay in an old mansion whose previous owner, Saibu, died on his wedding night, bitten by a snake while gathering Kewra flowers for his bride Gulab. Baijama, the couple's house help and a distant relative of Saibu, holds that his restless spirit haunts the mansion and that only her rituals can appease it. Madhura senses an unseen presence in the rooms, and the power cuts only deepen her unease, while Vinay puts it down to her imagination. He takes charge of the village hospital and scolds Kamat for its unsystematic arrangements.
