Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Anthrax (2017)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The film is based on the Israeli military's anthrax vaccine trial, known as "Omer 2", in which the investigative program "Uvda" revealed in 2007 that soldiers had been used as guinea pigs in a secret eight-year trial of a vaccine against anthrax bacteria.
- Director Shai Sharf based the plot on his own experience: as a soldier in the Maglan unit he witnessed the trial, seeing military personnel arrive and set up a black tent where the test subjects were taken to receive the injections.
- The film's characters are based on Sharf's real friends, and authentic video clips that soldiers shot during their military service were woven into the film.
- Shai's meeting with his mother in the film comes from an authentic meeting between the director and his real mother.
