On the first day of term she and her best friend Jas spot Robbie and Tom Jennings, twins who have just arrived from London. The two girls call at the organic food shop where the brothers work, and Jas takes to Tom while Georgia talks with Robbie. Lindsay, the most popular girl at school, is Robbie's girlfriend, and Georgia sees her as a rival. Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- Paramount had been sitting on Louise Rennison's British books for five years after handing the adaptation to two American writers who could not make it work. The writer who took over found the existing script read like an LA male's version of an English girl's childhood and rebuilt it as a British answer to Clueless and Mean Girls.
- It was the first film produced by Nickelodeon Movies ever to be given a PG-13 rating, and it never opened in American cinemas at all: its US premiere was on television, on Nick at Nite and TeenNick.
- The school uniforms were not made for the film: the green blazers and kilts were borrowed from St. Bede's Prep School in Eastbourne, and the crew carted Eastbourne's distinctive blue bins around as props so that scenes shot in different towns would match.
