Plot summary
Mike is nineteen, fresh from Camp Pendleton, and has enlisted to go to Iraq. He has four days of Thanksgiving leave before he ships out, and he spends them at home in Bakersfield, California. His best friend Jake, his new girlfriend Cristina, his mother Donna and his father Eddie are waiting for him, and not one of them knows about the deployment. Mike tells each of them on his own, and those one-on-one conversations take up most of the visit. He has fallen for Cristina, and he is afraid he might not come back alive. The four days also show why he enlisted in the first place.
