Plot summary
Eleven-year-old Gitty lives on a farm in 1980s rural America. She tries not to worry about losing the farm and explores the land to escape the stress at home. She discovers a man held prisoner in the family's abandoned grain silo. He is the developer buying up local farms, and her father Abe is keeping him there to save the farm. Gitty secretly befriends the captive. She is torn between doing what she thinks is right and loyalty to her family.
