Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1972)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The director, William Sterling, orchestrated a nationwide search across Great Britain for an unknown young actress to play Alice, and over 2,000 girls between thirteen and seventeen auditioned. The search was considered one of the biggest in the UK since Franco Zeffirelli's hunt for his Romeo and Juliet six years earlier.
- Rosalyn Landor, who had just turned thirteen, impressed everyone at her audition but was judged too young, while Lynne Frederick, nearly eighteen, was deemed too sophisticated and mature. Both were later cast in Lionel Jeffries' The Amazing Mr. Blunden, released the same year.
- The film was one of the most popular movies of the year at the British box office in 1973, yet the credits of its director, William Sterling, end with this movie.
- A dialogue scene was filmed between Alice and the Cheshire Cat, with the cat perched in a tree. Although some stills survive, the footage itself was cut from the final print and may no longer exist.
