Plot summary
Each night a creature comes to Hank's house and claws at his front door, and its intentions are plainly unkind. By day he lives with the fact that Abby, his girlfriend of ten years, has left town without a word to him. He goes back over those years in his mind, trying to work out where the two of them came apart. Hank decides to face the thing that arrives in the dark.
