Plot summary
Djuna is a vampire who lives on animal blood in a summer house in Connecticut that belongs to Xenia, a stage actress and a leader of the vampire community. Paolo, a screenwriter staying in the state to write, meets her and falls in love. Djuna confesses that she is a vampire; he doubts her, and at her own request he chains her to the bed so she can show him her true form. He is unafraid and frees her, and their lovemaking turns him into a vampire. The two settle into the house as a couple. Djuna's sister Mimi, out of control, then comes to live with them and says she will stay a week.
