Plot summary
Joe Turner, an American airman, learns that a distant cousin has left him the title of Earl, along with a house and an estate in an English village and three million dollars, on the condition that he renounce his United States citizenship. Unsure whether he is prepared to make that sacrifice, he is urged by his fiancé, Gloria Peters, to accept once she hears what the estate is worth. Joe crosses to England with his two buddies, Slowburn and Butch Halliday, to try his new title out. There he meets Angela, whose family owns the neighboring estate, and falls for her. Angela is already engaged to be married.
