Plot summary
Christina Benton travels from London to a small castle in Europe, where her estranged relatives have gathered for the reading of her dead father's will. Her father's mansion is to pass to her. Her relatives live on the estate and dread being sent away once it belongs to her. Christina is lonely among people she hardly knows, and she tells Uncle Howard that she wants the family to stay on there with her.
