Plot summary
Mallory commands a government unit whose work is hunting the supernatural. Its members are Vena Cava, a drag queen who handles explosives, Talking Tina, a mute girl who reads minds and can occupy other people's bodies, and Durand, an armed agent of the state. The unit is sent to guard a convent from a pack of undead creatures and is set upon by an unknown assailant. At the same time, masked attackers who walk through the gunfire of the pope's bodyguards abduct the newly elected pope. Mallory is asked to bring him back. She accepts unwillingly, once she sees that the assailant who struck her unit may be connected to the men who took the pope.
