Plot summary
The Minister for Rural and Labour Development, Andreas Mavrogialouros, comes from a political family rooted in Platania, the underdeveloped village that makes up his constituency, where a new pregnancy clinic is ready to open. Honest but dimwitted and shortsighted, he has long been uninformed about conditions in his district, and he sets out for the inauguration. The advisers closest to him in the ministry are corrupt and greedy, and he does not know it. The roads around the village are rough, and a clumsy accident interrupts the visit, bringing him face to face with the dissatisfaction of the voters he represents.
