Plot summary
Thodoros Vlassis is an affluent civil engineer in Athens, married to Fofo, and he spends his evenings with a mistress. To explain his absences he has invented Lefterakis, a friend from Patras, and the name comes up often at home. One evening he is playing cards with his friend Thanassis and describing the arrangement when the maid walks in to announce that a man has arrived from Patras under that name. Fofo, who takes him at his word, asks the visitor to stay for a few days. Thodoros is stunned and Thanassis is bewildered by the stranger standing in front of them.
