Plot summary
Jake Rademacher, a filmmaker, wants to understand what his two younger brothers face in Iraq and what keeps them there. He once thought about joining the military himself, but selection was never open to him. Isaac, one year behind him, was an Eagle Scout and a strong student, and West Point offered him a place. Joe, the youngest by many years, enlisted. Joe serves as a sniper on overwatch, and both brothers end up in the 82nd Airborne Division, where Isaac serves as an officer; Joe is not under his brother's command. Jake reaches Isaac's unit in Iraq, where his presence is a distraction, and Isaac arranges a posting for him. Jake begins to learn what life in a combat zone is.
