Trailer

Plot summary

Photographs that U.S. military police took inside Abu Ghraib prison in Iraq in late 2003 show the torture and abuse of detainees, among them suspected terrorists and civilians. When the images reach the media in 2004 they make the prison notorious and set off a scandal. Soldiers who served there, from a brigadier general to military police sergeants and specialists, along with a civilian interrogator, describe what the photographs record, and re-enactments restage parts of the events. The soldiers in the photographs are not blameless, the film maintains, but the pictures do not identify who else is responsible, and they can misdirect a viewer as readily as they reveal something.
