Plot summary
Katherine "Kat" Decker is seventeen and writes songs, hoping to make a career of them. Since her father died, she has lived with her stepmother Deirdre and stepsisters Joy and Grace, who take most of her wages and keep her as a servant, telling her the money covers food and care for Bruno, her disabled dog. She needs enough money to move out. Kat sings at Santa Land, the Christmas park owned by billionaire Terrence Wintergarden, with her best friend Isla, and their boss Mr. Mujiza keeps a strict eye on them. Their new Santa is a teenage boy who watches Kat perform and is drawn to her.
