Plot summary
A year has passed since Amber helped Richard take the throne of Aldovia, and the two are engaged. Amber's old media company has folded, leaving her friends without work, and she and her father Rudy fly to Aldovia for Christmas to arrange the wedding. Amber blogs about life in the palace, but she has little say in the ceremony: the designer Sahil and Mrs. Averill hold to protocol and overrule her choices. Richard, meanwhile, is absorbed by the New Aldovia initiative, an economic program that is quietly losing money while unemployment and low wages leave the kingdom's workers unhappy. Queen Helena asks Lord Leopold to advise him. Simon, divorced from Sophia and short of money, returns to the palace, and Richard lets him stay.
