Plot summary
The monk Tripitaka and his three disciples, Sun Wukong, Zhu Bajie and Sha Wujing, reach Shache on their pilgrimage for the Buddhist scriptures, and the city welcomes them. During their stay, evil Tree Spirits capture the three disciples. Tripitaka borrows the Golden Pole and looks for a way to save them. He meets Meiyan, a lizard imp with matted hair and frightening teeth, who falls in love with him at first sight and trails him, setting a love trap to ensnare him. The region holds monsters and strange beings, among them Princess Xiaoshan, who arrives with her army and vows to aid Tripitaka.
