Plot summary
Pauline Driscoll is unhappy in her marriage to Ernie, who drives a taxi in New York after a severe injury ended his boxing career. She is having an affair with Victor Rawlins, a jewel thief with money. Rawlins has arranged for a batch of stolen diamonds to change hands, and a fence has agreed to take them. The arrangement is scuttled, and the fence lets it be known that Pauline's presence is what impeded the deal.
