Plot summary
Tobias Ellis is the first officer on a European Airways flight from Berlin to Paris, running pre-flight checks with Captain Michael Lutzmann. Gökce, a flight attendant and Tobias's girlfriend, is among the crew. Once the plane is airborne, hijackers force their way toward the cockpit. Tobias fights them off and manages to close the door with Kinan still inside, striking the man with a fire extinguisher, though his arm is badly hurt. Captain Lutzmann is stabbed and mortally wounded. With the remaining hijackers pounding at the door and control reminding him he is not permitted to open it, Tobias sets the transponder to 7500 and the flight is diverted to Hanover.

- Paul Dano was announced to star in Patrick Vollrath's feature-length directorial debut 7500, but after filming was delayed past its planned mid-2017 start in Germany he dropped out over scheduling conflicts, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt replaced him.
