Plot summary
Sebastian, a Hollywood director, joins a poker game in Los Angeles run by Duke, a former actor, and quickly becomes its best player. Sebastian knows people with money who are happy to play, so the two become partners, and the game grows into a circuit of prop bets on almost anything. Sebastian does not need the money; he plays to win and arranges the odds in his own favor. For Duke the game is his only income, and he stashes his winnings in his yard. When an investment scheme run by a friend of Sebastian's collapses, Duke loses those savings, and he proposes one more wager: he will walk 280 miles to Las Vegas in seven days, his money against Sebastian's.
