Plot summary
The year is 2033. Mexico City has been renamed Villaparaiso and is run by a totalitarian government of military and corporate figures. Religion and free expression are banned. The state keeps control of the population by adding drugs and toxic chemicals to the food and drink supply, and a highly addictive drink known as Pactia keeps the working class subdued while the rich enjoy parties. A religious minority has formed a resistance movement, and a lawyer named Lozada helps lead it. Pablo, a wealthy and pampered young man who believed himself an orphan, is enrolled in a leadership program run by the military government.
