Plot summary
Sam and Jake have been friends since they were boys in an unnamed New Jersey suburb, a friendship that is close but troubled. The two men have to reconsider what that friendship means now that they are adults, and then a car hits Jake and leaves him with traumatic injuries. Sam is the only one who will look after him, and Jake leans on his childhood friend for support. A physical therapist is brought in to guide the recovery, and Sam follows her instructions. When Zoe, the sweetheart Sam had as a boy, returns to town, her presence becomes a test of the men's friendship, and old rivalries between them return.
