Plot summary
A crew from an advanced civilization is returning home after a long voyage, carrying Centaurian refugees rescued from a planet devastated by a catastrophe. The refugees are expected to be absorbed into the culture that took them in. Some Centaurian passengers seize one of the fleet's ships, and it crash-lands on a prehistoric world in the Solaris system. The rest of the fleet disobeys orders and turns back to search for survivors.
