Plot summary
Bruce Landry is a widower in rural Quebec who lost his snowplow job after drunkenly crashing the plow into a restaurant. Driving drunk through a snowstorm, he hits a pedestrian, panics and buries the body in a snowbank, then drives on until he falls asleep. He wakes to find the plow stuck, sets off to look for help and turns back when he sees no signs of anyone nearby, then rehearses the statement he imagines giving the police, imagining being told that his victim had children. When the fuel runs out he walks to a restaurant, where a newspaper reports that he is missing, and stocks up on supplies before returning to the plow.
