Plot summary
Irene and Oliver Young have two sons: Chaz, the older, and Nick, a high school freshman on the autism spectrum who looks up to his brother. Chaz is killed when reckless drivers hit him as he rides his bike to a friend's house. The parents are lost in their own mourning and hold on to the memory of their perfect son, expecting Nick to fill Chaz's place. Doug, one of Chaz's friends, brings Nick into the weekly poker game that Chaz played with Ajit, Cameron and Randy, and Nick takes his brother's seat. Randy is hostile to Nick in person and defends him when he is not around.
