Plot summary

Jens Michael Schau was a Danish playwright, and Christian Kampmann, his partner of thirteen years, was Denmark's best-selling author and a leading openly gay man. In 1988 Schau killed Kampmann in a fit of jealousy, and the scandal that followed was unprecedented. Schau admitted the killing and was given ten years, which he served in a psychiatric hospital, leaving after seven. He lives alone today and still punishes himself for what he did, uneasy about how people he and Kampmann once knew might greet him in the street. A theater company stages reconstructions of the events that led to the killing, and Schau speaks about his life for the first time.
