Plot summary
On the hottest day of the year, a virus nobody can identify appears in inner-city Philadelphia. Dehydration drives the infected into frenzies, and they attack the people around them in gruesome ways. Troops are sent to contain the outbreak, but no vaccine can be produced quickly enough, so the streets are fenced off and the residents inside are left to die. A group of locals is trapped behind those fences, taking cover in the basement of their building and cut off from family members on the outside. They band together to stay alive.
