Plot summary
Taboulistan is a tiny country in Central Asia, unknown to the rest of the world, and its one claim to fame is tabbouleh, a recipe the Lebanese have taken over. To make the country known, its president sends the half-brother shepherds Muzafar and Ferouz to France with a mission: blow up the Eiffel Tower. A strike at the Paris-Charles de Gaulle airport sends their flight to Corsica instead, where they meet Corsican nationalists and leave by boat for Marseille. There the journalist Marianne Bouvier mistakes them for illegal aliens and helps them, revealing a France quite unlike the one they had heard described.
