Plot summary
Vito is a documentary about Vito Russo, a gay activist and film scholar. He was the author of The Celluloid Closet, a study of how Hollywood treated gay characters on screen. After the Stonewall uprising he became politicized and turned into a critic of the way the media depicted LGBTQ+ people. In the 1980s, when AIDS spread, he campaigned for justice with the newly formed group ACT UP.
