After Kanto's Hell Earthquake, the people who survived it build a city and name it Hope Town. A motorcycle gang called Hell's Wind rides in, seizes the town's women, and leaves the residents with no way to answer them. SPOILER
Go Nagai said Mondo Saotome's death in the Golden City arc came from the character running away from him and wrecking the story's structure, so he waited for readers to forget the old Mondo and restarted the series in another magazine, treating that arc as never having happened.SPOILER
Go Nagai said he used Devilman's popular Ryo Asuka and Miki Makimura only to underline Slam King's cruelty, yet when he settled the final plan, Ryo, the human dog who was to die at once, became the story's most important role.- Go Nagai wanted to draw a period drama set in the Sengoku era, inspired by Sanpei Shirato's Ninja Bugeicho, but such series were hard for boys' magazines then, so he set Violence Jack in the ruined land of the Great Kanto Hell Earthquake to recreate a Sengoku-like lawless zone.
- After ending Devilman by destroying its world, Go Nagai said that with Violence Jack he wanted to show the energy of ordinary people rising again in the ruined world.
