Plot summary
Theo van Gogh works as an art dealer in Paris, guiding wealthy clients through galleries and selling them paintings he has no respect for. His brother Vincent decides in 1883 to work only as an artist, and lives on Theo's support. Vincent's own paintings earn him little and go unrecognized in his lifetime. The film looks at the two brothers together, drawing on the letters they wrote to one another.
