Plot summary

Sophie Bernard, a French actress, comes to Montreal to shoot a movie and to visit Thomas, her son, from whom she has been apart for three years. She has never been willing to tell him about his father, and he wants answers about the man's identity. On a street corner, Thomas watches a young woman walk into oncoming traffic. Pierre Pascal, the paramedic sent to treat her, and Marie Santerre, the nurse on duty in the emergency department, are pulled into the same night. Marie keeps the crowded room running and supports Pierre, who lives with post-traumatic stress from his work, and it is not clear whether he can stay in the job.
