Under the Shadow (2016) on Netflix

Plot summary

In Tehran during the Iran-Iraq War, Shideh, once a medical student, is barred from returning to her studies over her earlier ties to leftist groups. She keeps a physiology book her late mother gave her. Her husband Iraj is called into military service and wants her to move with their daughter Dorsa to his parents' home in a safer region, and Shideh refuses. A boy comes to live with the Ebrahimi family next door. During a shelling he whispers to Dorsa and gives her a charm against evil spirits, and Dorsa begins talking about the Djinn. Mrs. Ebrahimi tells Shideh the boy has been mute since his parents were killed.
