Plot summary
Vilaeiha is the story of the families of the Iranian army leaders in 1986. Aziz is a 50 years old woman who enters the Villas complex with her grand children. Elyas is a driver who when comes all become tension that maybe he brings bad news for them about their families. After a while Sima who is Aziz' daughter-in-law comes to take her children away with her but Aziz refuses.

- Villas drew its story mainly from the wartime memoirs of Toubi Arabpouryan, wife of the martyr Alireza Nouri; the villa-complex commander Kheiri, played by Parinaz Izadyar, has a real-life counterpart in Arabpouryan.
- After the 35th Fajr Film Festival nominations were announced, director Monir Qeydi withdrew Villas' nomination for Best Screenplay, publishing a letter that criticised the jury and claimed crew members, including set designer Mehdi Mousavi, had been wronged.
- When Villas went on general release in Khordad 1396 (June 2017), protests arose over the few theatres and showtimes it was given, especially at peak hours; after the crew's protest and reactions from other artists, its screenings continued.
- Villas was Monir Qeydi's first feature-length film, but its production permit had first been issued back in 1389 (2010) to producer Mohammad Pirhadi, and it only entered production after Saeed Malekan took over as producer.
