Plot summary
Manassas High School opened in North Memphis in 1899, and in all the years since, its football team has never won a playoff game. In 2004 Bill Courtney, who coached in high school before, volunteers to help the Tigers turn things around. Money is tight, and more successful schools have hired the Tigers out as practice opposition. He works on the players' physical and emotional development. Three students from inner-city Memphis are at the center of the season: O.C. Brown, the team's star player, Montrail 'Money' Brown and Chavis Daniels.
