Plot summary
The rich widow he loves has let Charles, now retired, stay in a maid's room in her house. She decides to marry another man, which ends both the relationship and his place in the house. He is turned out onto the street, and his dog goes with him. Charles has no way of making money. Together the two of them wander the streets of Paris.
