Plot summary
Every letter that the people of Junctionville send to Santa Claus comes back to them unopened. Father Mouse, who shares the house of the clockmaker Joshua Trundle, cannot sleep, and he tells the audience what worries him. A letter signed All of Us appeared in the Junctionville Register, saying that Santa does not exist, and Santa took offense at it. The townspeople press the Mayor for an answer, and he has none. Trundle brings the town officials his own solution: a clock whose song would persuade Santa to visit Junctionville on Christmas Eve. The town approves the plan at once, and the Trundles and the Mouse family begin the work.
