Plot summary
Parker is a CIA combatant and investigator working in Syria with her friend Spider when a call comes from Jesse Swann, once her lover and now the sheriff of the town she grew up in. He tells her that Harry Calvo, her father, died in a mining accident. Parker travels to Creation, New Mexico, for the funeral and to sort out the affairs of Maria's, the bar her father owned. Mike, the bar's manager, meets her, and she begins investigating the mine. A confrontation with Elvis, Jesse's younger brother, follows at a bar, and she also stops thieves from robbing a hardware store owner.
