Plot summary
Catherine takes her children, Johnny and Caroline, to visit their uncle, a scientist whose laboratory uses monkeys and other primates in cryogenic experiments. When an earthquake strikes, the three are trapped inside the cryogenic chambers and frozen. The freezing sends them into a different timeline rather than simply forward in time. They revive in a world where apes rule over humans, and where the apes themselves answer to a supercomputer called UECOM. In that world a hunter named Gono is the only human left, and a vengeful ape and the ape government chase the newcomers. Catherine and the two children look for a way back to their own time.
