Plot summary
Pauline Duhez lives in a village in Pas-de-Calais with her son Tom, her daughter Lili and her father Jacques, a retired steelworker who was once a Communist. She is the household's only earner and works as a home nurse, and her patients value her open, caring manner. Philippe Berthier, a right-wing doctor who had attended her mother before she died, brings her the thinking of a nationalist movement, and Agnès Dorgelle, who leads it, proposes Pauline as a candidate for mayor. The party's directors believe her popularity can carry their campaign. Pauline also meets Stéphane Stankowiak again, a school friend who coaches Tom's soccer team.

- Released two months before the first round of the 2017 French presidential election, the film directly targets the National Front: Catherine Jacob's character was said to strongly resemble Marine Le Pen, and party members saw the film as an affront.
