Plot summary
Tessa, a teenager in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is found hanged in her room in January 2008. Everything suggests suicide, but the autopsy report finds something else, and the crime is never solved. Ten years later, the film looks at the past causes and future consequences of that death, and at its impact on Tessa's family, blending documentary footage with a scripted drama. In the drama, an adult Tessa continues to meet her grieving mother, Valeska, in a space between the living and the dead.
