Plot summary
In June 2018, after practice, the twelve boys of the Wild Boars junior football team and their assistant coach Ekkaphon Chanthawong go into the Tham Luang cave in Thailand. Rain floods the tunnels, and when the group does not turn up at a birthday party their parents have arranged, the families find the bikes at the entrance and call the emergency services. Captain Arnont brings Royal Thai Navy SEALs to the site, but they cannot dive the passage. Vernon Unsworth, a British caver who knows the cave, tells the authorities to contact the British Cave Rescue Council. Rick Stanton and John Volanthen fly in from Britain and enter the water, while above the mountain volunteers and a Bangkok water technician work on diverting the rain.

The film is dedicated to two Thai Navy SEALs: Saman Kunan, who died on July 6, 2018, during the real rescue operation it depicts, and Beirut Pakbara, who later died from a blood infection.- For the film's cave sequences, production took over two warehouses in Yatala, Queensland, where it built a custom water tank and cave interiors.
