Plot summary
Child survivors of the Holocaust are housed at a camp on the Calgarth Estate at Troutbeck Bridge, by Lake Windermere in England. The project aims at rehabilitation: the children are helped to rebuild their lives and to integrate into British society, and the staff work with them on the estate, a wartime housing scheme. The story is based on the experience of the children housed there in 1945.
