Plot summary
Ashin Wirathu, a Buddhist monk in Myanmar, is a leading voice in the country's anti-Muslim movement. His public preaching turns the Buddhist majority against the Muslim minority, and the hostility he voices has been followed by riots and persecution, carried out by his followers and by people inside the government. Homes belonging to Muslims are burned, and thousands of people flee the country. His speeches sit alongside scenes of the daily racism and Islamophobia of Burmese society. While shooting inside Myanmar, the crew at first passed as foreign tourists, then noticed that the military police were following and photographing their visits to Muslim communities, and left the country.
