Plot summary
Tú Lạc presents herself as a woman of wealth and refinement. Her target is Bảo Hoàng, a rich heir, and a marriage to him would give her the life she wants. His mother, bà Phượng, cares about status and dislikes everything Tú Lạc stands for, and she stands between Tú Lạc and that marriage. Tú Lạc brings her own family into a plan to pass her off as a suitable bride and get the household into elite circles. Vietnamese custom holds that a couple should match in social and economic standing, and the family's aim is to reach an elite family's fortune through the match.
