Did you know?!Facts and trivia about Cu Li Never Cries (2024)
Can contain spoilers, watch the movie first.
- The loris seen in the film is a puppet crafted by experts in Australia; because the animal was so small, designing it was a challenge that took a whole year. Its fur was made from the hair of a local rodent, and internal mechanics gave it a moving "skeleton".
- Director Phạm Ngọc Lân cast disabled actress Hà Phương as Vân; at her audition he asked little of her, but after talks and watching her everyday life he saw a strong presence and put her in the film.
- At the 74th Berlin International Film Festival in February 2024 the film took Best First Feature in the Panorama section, becoming the first Vietnamese film to win that prize; the award is backed by 50,000 Euro from GWFF.
- Phạm Ngọc Lân and Nghiêm Quỳnh Trang began writing the screenplay in 2016, and the COVID-19 pandemic delayed filming several times before the project was restarted at the end of 2022.
