Plot summary
Tuong Minh works as a psychologist. His patient is An Nhien, a young writer who suffers from an anxiety disorder. In their sessions Nhien says she is obsessed with a certain girl, and the girl she names is the main character of her first novel, The Whispering. Minh provides psychotherapy and, as part of the treatment, studies the novel she has written. He uses his professional methods to help Nhien face the unpleasant story in her past, and he hopes she can begin a new life afterward. In the course of the therapy Minh becomes steadily immersed in Nhien's story.
